Zomby

I recently just discovered this artist called “Zomby“. He is siiiickk. It is hard for me to describe his music. To me his music has a 90′s dance feel to it with 8-bit….kinda like Crystal Castles…there is also some Flying Lotus style in it. Anyways what draws me to his music is how random and off beat the songs are. Its almost unpleasant sometimes because I am trying to make out the beat and rhythm but overall I keep listening. I’m addicted to it and I don’t know why. I respect Zomby because his music uses different notes and there is so much syncopation in it. I never know what to expect. I love it. Anyways here are two of his songs that I personally enjoy.

Zomby- Helter Skelter

Zomby- Aquafresh

The Best Endings!!!

Awwhh Cut Copy, I can never get enough of them. I have slowly realized that they have the best endings on their songs. For pretty much half of their songs, the endings are my favorite part. I always wish that they would have their ending beats more in their songs. Instead I get a 30 sec taste of it. Anyways Knightlife knows what I’m talking about!

Cut Copy- So Haunted(Knightlife End Edit)

Then Cut Copy has a great song called Strangers in the Wind. The end is my favorite part in that song too. I haven’t found anyone who remixed the end yet…:/ so I guess I will have to work on that!

But heres the original Strangers in the Wind.( Note the end beat….yesssssss)

p.s. I don’t know why there are images of random drunkness…..I was desperate for the song.

Life in Slow Mode

Some songs I listen to are so epic to me that time is in slow mode. Everything seems so simple and elegant. Moving with a steady pace….here nothing can go wrong….to me, this is it. This is life at its purest form.

Interpol-NYC (This song is so peaceful and flawless to me)

ha I even found a video thats in slow mode for the song….its fits well.

The Walkmen- We’ve Been Had ( I absolutely love the piano in this song. Reminds me of Ragtime music)

Oh I found this video someone made for the song…..the concept of the video fits really well with the song…

The XX

Recently I have been listening to this band a lot. My new soundtrack to my life. Anyways, their music is very simple and basic but at the same time hits and nails every song with the right notes. Did I mention the guitar is amazing? Since I am at work….and bored, I will have to post their songs through you tube vids.

While you’re at it….just get the whole CD.

Swordfish Hotkiss Night

Where does Empire of the Sun get their songs names from??? They are so random but it works because everything about them is. Empire of the Sun is a band that you learn to “like” and appreciate over time. When I first heard them it was offputting because I had never heard a style like theirs before. They are original and as time went by I started to enjoy almost every song. I appreciate the randomness of their music because its unique and intriguing. Nick Littlemore, a band member of Empire of the Sun also has an earlier existing group called Pnau. I  have grown to appreciate Pnau as well and I hope to hear more music from these groups.

Empire of the Sun- Swordfish Hotkiss Night

Pnau- Wild Strawberries

Don Knotts?

Don Knotts

Don Knotts

I enjoy the song Cheerleader from Grizzly Bear and was curious if they had a video for the song. They didn’t but I found a video someone made for the song. The video fits very well with the song, however I seriously think the man in the video is Don Knotts….you know the awkward man who makes everyone laugh from the Andy Griffith Show. If it is him, where is the original video from??? If it is not him let me know. Just a side note if you are ever in for a good laugh I would recommend watching his movie The Ghost and Mr. Chicken.

These Places…

will always be my places. They remain within my mind and are incredibly hard to forget. These places mean something to me….maybe because I experienced them within my childhood, however they will always be special to me. Anyways, I’m not sure about you, but sometimes I come across songs that remind me of certain places. Therefore, I felt I should write a post about this and share these places with you.

Lake Havasu
Lake Havasu

The Song(s): Til Tuesday-Voices Carry & FurtureCop!- Transformers

The Place: Lake Havasu-AZ
Most of my family lives here. I used to come here twice or three times a year when I lived in Ventura CA. I would always road trip with my grandma and grandpa, the whole 7 hours. I remember I used to get car sick when in the back seat so to help me out, my grandma would let me sit in the front seat. I was filled with so much anticipation when seeing the Lake Havasu sign after driving through the Mojave desert for 2 hours straight. Lake Havasu was one of the places I truly wanted to live in when I was a kid. Whenever I left I would shed tears for it.

The Song: The Eagles-Hotel California

The Place: Solvang-CA

This was a “magical” place that my grandma would always take me to. There is a ton of shops here with toys/food/etc. I remember always going to this specific toy shop because they had a pond in the back where you could test drive their toy boats. This place was exciting and in general had a great European feel to it. It felt almost surreal to me. I will always remember this place and want to visit it soon. I can’t remember the last time I was here. So if anyone wants to check out the place with me please let me know!

Lafayette

If you haven’t known already…I was recently hooked on True Blood, the HBO TV series. I seriously watched 2 seasons within two weeks. Hour long episodes…..I’m an addict. Anyways my favorite character on the show is Lafayette who is basically Cher in black form. He is not completely drag queen, he mixes it up with his wardrobe and I LOVE IT. He’s unique and hilarious! If only I had a friend like him *pondering*

Anyways this is one of my favorite scenes with him in the show. It gets me every time!!!
